America Never Had A COVID Plan And They Don’t Have One Now
The only thing American elites plan is their stock portfolios, and those are doing just fine
It’s funny watching Americans complain about lockdowns because they’ve never had one. I spent two months in the house, only venturing out to chase the vegetable truck. The whole country of Sri Lanka did. That was a lockdown and we got to COVID-Zero (before fucking it all up). Some places like China actually held the line and live in almost complete freedom today.
It’s also funny watching Americans talk about a COVID plan because they’ve never had one either. They talk about vaccines and masks which are part of a plan, but not a plan. You need to test/trace/isolate and you need the political will to get to COVID-Zero—things Americans has never had.
That’s why more people are dying under Biden than Trump. The problem is not the governor but the fact that the country is ungovernable. The problem is not coronavirus but corruption. The only thing American elites plan for is their stock portfolios, and those are doing just fine.
Test/Trace/Isolate
The truth is that we’ve known how to stop epidemics not for months or decades but for a thousand years. Quarantine is an old Italian word (meaning forty days) and the concept was recorded and practiced in the Islamic and Chinese worlds centuries earlier. Of the holy trinity of test/trace/isolate, the latter two are ancient gods.
The problem is that Americans have no history and insist on inventing everything again. Like Elon Musk’s cars in tunnels (a shitty subway) or Uber or UberEats (servants), they keep expensively reinventing the wheel, usually as a torture device. Hence a pandemic response is something that must be invented and not just copied from the past or a successful country like China (or South Korea if their propaganda makes the former knowledge indigestible).
The truth is that we know how to stop epidemics, it’s just hard. You have to isolate the plagued city and let the fire burn out there before it consumes you all. The only real advantages we have over the ancients are A) germ theory of disease and B) PCR testing. Note the greatest advantage isn’t vaccines…
