That’s quite interesting. Our ancient ancestors did just that, starting 2,300 years ago. Sri Lanka has thousands of ancient tanks and irrigation channels that we still use today. 1000 years ago Parakrambahu said “Let not even a drop of rain water go to the sea without benefiting man”.

We haven’t been as industrious since, nor as aware of nature. We’ve built dams and hydro power, but nothing to match the ingenuity of that earlier civilization.
