The problem with the ‘good guys’ of western politics is that they think they’re ‘the good guys’. You know, the good guys with guns.
They really think they’re spreading freedom and democracy, even after leaving a blood trail decades long and millions of lives wide. It’s always going to be different this time. Unlike conservatives—who are quite openly assholes—liberals actually believe their own lies.
You’re People, Not Gods
These people have forgotten what it’s like to be people. Nobody in Sri Lanka is like ‘what do we do about Ukraine?’ What the fuck does that have to do with us? There’s lots of bad shit going on in the world, and very little we can do. Most people in most countries live like this, and you know what? We’re better than you. For all your sanctimonious opinions, at least we don’t make things worse.
Most people in America consider it their responsibility to have opinions about the world, and for those opinions to come with bombs. They don’t get it. They’re just being played by the dudes selling bombs.
