Great piece, but please don't use 'third world' pejoratively, as in "American began to live a life more suited to a third world country"

I live in the 'third world'. We have health care and social goods. We are not naturally 'suited' for a bad life. In many ways we live better than Americans. We have better public health than your vaunted Europe, which by the way 'developed' on our backs.

When you use the term like this you do a great disservice to much of the world so please do better.
